
Falcons travel to CU's Mark Simpson Invite

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
The Air Force golf team will travel north up I-25 for the seventh annual Mark Simpson Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado. The 54-hole tournament will be held on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27, at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT/COURSE
The Mark Simpson Invitational, named after the former CU golf coach, will be played over two days at the Colorado National Golf Club. The championship layout covers 7.745 yards and is a par 72. The course has held several U.S. Amateur qualifiers, Colorado PGA Section championships, the 2011 NCAA Men's Regional and the 2012 NCAA Women's Regional.
Golfers will play 36 holes in a shotgun start, beginning at 8:10 a.m. (MT), on Monday, Sept. 26. On Tuesday, pairings and tee times for the final 18-hole round will be determined by Monday's results and will begin at 7:55 a.m., with a staggered shotgun format. A LOOK AT THE FIELD
Air Force, Boise State, Campbell, Colorado, Gonzaga, Houston Baptist, Northern Colorado, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, Texas-Arlington, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley State, Washington State, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming will compete this year.
A LOOK BACK AT THE 2015 MARK SIMPSON INVITE
At last season's Mark Simpson Invite, Air Force placed seventh with a team score of 878 (+38). Colorado and UMKC tied for the team title with a score of 847. It marked the third straight season that CU has won or shared the title. Brendan Bone was Air Force's top finisher as he tied for 16th with a six-over 216 (71-73-72). Sunwoo Choi was 27th with a 219.
ABOUT THE FALCONS
After two tournaments, senior Sunwoo Choi leads the team with a stroke average of 72.33. Choi's five-under 65 on the first day of the CSU Ram Masters is the lowest round by a Falcon this season. Junior Todd Millard is second with a 72.67 and senior Brenden Bone is third with a 73.67.
Air Force's best round as a ream came in the first round of the CSU Ram Masters when the Falcons fired a one-over 281.
A LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEK
Air Force placed fourth in the 18-team CSU Ram Masters, Sept. 19-20, at the Fort Collins Country Club. The fourth-place finish and 858 team score mark the best ever for the Falcons in the annual CSU Tournament. Air Force senior team captain Brenden Bone tied for second with a three-under-par, 207 (69-68-70). Fellow senior Sunwoo Choi tied for ninth with a two-over-par 212. Junior Todd Millard tied for 28th with a 217.
