USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's soccer dropped a 1-0 contest in overtime to Utah State (7-4, 3-0 MW) in Mountain West action Friday night at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 5-4-1, 1-2 MW.
Wesley Hamblin scored the lone goal of the match at the 98th minute in overtime.
Bailee Hammond sent a ball into the middle of the box to Hamblin. Hamblin was able to fire under Air Force goalkeeper Jennifer Hiddink's lower left for the game-winning goal.
It was a hard-fought match with the teams combining for 26 shots, 15 on goal. Air Force had 11 shot attempts, with junior Angela Karamanos leading the team with three shots.
"Congrats to Utah State," Air Force head coach Larry Friend said. "They are one of the best team's we've seen this year. I'm proud of our cadets. I felt they played one of their best games this year. It's an unfortunate finish, but that's soccer."
Hiddink recorded nine saves for the Falcons.
Rain fell for most of the match, with a couple moments of heavy downpour, leading to slick field conditions.
Air Force returns to action Sunday, Oct. 2, hosting Boise State. Kickoff is 12 pm MT.
