Air Force downs UNC in home opener

Air Force defeated Northern Colorado, 5-0, Saturday morning in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Academy's Cadet Gymnasium Indoor Tennis Courts.
The Falcons won the doubles point to open the match. TJ Fumagalli and Elizabeth Barnickel defeated Beth Coton and Remi Immler, 6-4, at No. 1 while Chloe Forlini and Jocelle Rudico beat Rafa Mora and Cortney Schulte, 6-2, at No. 2. In singles action, Chloe Forlini beat Anna Battersby, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 and Barnickel beat Coton, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Fumagalli beat Marissa Baca, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3 while Lily Forlini defeated Schulte, 4-6, 7-6, 10-6. The other two singles matches did not finish.
The Falcons improve to 4-3 overall and 1-0 at home. Air Force plays Incarnate Word tonight at 5 p.m. in the second match of the day. The team closes out a three-match weekend home stand Sunday at 11:30 a.m. vs. Pacific.
