
Air Force Falls In Extra Innings At UNLV

Air Force baseball (6-7, 0-4) dropped a 10-9 contest in 11 innings at UNLV (6-8, 2-2) on Friday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. Sophomore Nic Ready led the Falcons with three hits.
A sacrifice fly by Max Smith scored Keyon Allen for the game winning run in the 11th.
The Falcons were unable to hold a pair of five-run leads. Air Force scored five runs in the first to start the game and also led 7-2 after the top of the third. UNLV was able to tie the game with a run in the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings.
Air Force had 10 hits on the day. Ready went 3-for-6 with two runs and a double. Drew Wiss added two hits, a triple and four RBIs. Tyler Zabojnik also added an RBI triple. Shaun Mize scored and drove in two runs. Russell Williams also scored two runs.
UNLV had 18 hits. Justin Jones had four hits, including a home run. Reliever Tevita Gerber (1-3) picked up the win. Alan Strong pitched three innings in the start, allowing seven runs.
Tyler Mortenson (1-2) took the loss in relief for the Falcons. Starting pitcher Evan Floyd pitched four innings for Air Force, striking out two. Jacob DeVries and Jake Gilbert pitched in relief.
Air Force and UNLV return to action tomorrow. First pitch is 1 pm PT.
