
Air Force Downed By UNLV, 6-5

Air Force baseball (6-8, 0-5) was downed in walk-off fashion for the second-straight day, falling 6-5 to UNLV (7-8, 3-2) Saturday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson.
Air Force had just rallied from a 4-3 deficit with two runs in the top of the ninth to go ahead 5-4. The Rebels pushed across two runs in the bottom of the inning to pull out the win. The Falcons suffered its second close setback to the Rebels in as many days, dropping a 10-9 contest in 11 innings Friday night.
The Falcons had 12 hits on the day. Ashton Easley and Shaun Mize had three hits each to lead the way. Easley had a game-tying triple in the ninth for the Falcons. Bradley Haslam and Drew Wiss added two hits each.
Nathan Stanford (0-1) took the loss in relief. Starting pitcher Nick Biancalana pitched 1.2 innings. Ryan Holloway pitched 4.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out four. Jake Gilbert also tossed a scoreless inning.
UNLV had 10 hits on the day. Bryson Stott had two hits and two runs scored to lead the Rebels. Reliever Tevita Gerber (2-3) picked up the win. Starting pitcher Larry Quaney pitched 6.2 innings.
UNLV scored two runs in the first and second innings to take an early 4-0 lead. The Falcons got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth. After scoring a run in the eighth, the Falcons took the lead with the two run ninth. Easley tied the game with the RBI-triple and Russell Williams' sac fly RBI gave the Falcons the lead.
Air Force and UNLV wrap up the three game series tomorrow. First pitch is 1 pm PT.
