
Air Force Falls Sunday To Fresno State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball (9-11, 1-8) lost to Fresno State (11-7, 4-2 MW), 15-7, in a Mountain West game Sunday afternoon at Falcon Field. With windy conditions, the two teams combined to hit six home runs.
Fresno State hit five home runs on the day and had three separate four-run innings.
Air Force starting pitcher Matt Hargreaves (1-2) pitched five innings, striking out seven. Jeff Gerlica, Shawn Kelley, Jake Gilbert and Tyler Mortenson pitched in relief.
Fresno State reliever Dominic Topoozian (1-0) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Starting pitcher Davis Moore pitched two innings, allowing three runs.
Air Force had 11 hits on the day. First baseman Nic Ready went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Left fielder Adam Groesbeck went 2-for-5 with two runs and a home run. Rightfielder Ashton Easley added two RBIs.
The game was already a high-scoring affair after the first inning, with Fresno State taking a 4-3 lead. The Bulldogs added a run in the second and went up 9-3 with four in the top of the sixth. The Falcons scored a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Fresno State added a run in the seventh, four in the eighth and one in the ninth. Air Force scored two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Air Force returns to action Friday, March 24, beginning at three-game series at Nevada.
