
Javelin Throwers Open Action at Aztec Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Senior Taylor Hulslander paced Air Force to four of the top-five finishes in the men's javelin throw, as six members of the track and field team kicked off competition at the 39th-annual Aztec Invitational this afternoon (March 24) in California.
Hulslander, the top collegiate finisher in the meet, registered a throw of 197'5" to place second in the full 25-thrower event. Junior Donny Crabill finished third overall with a toss of 196'4", while senior Eric Hoff and junior Luke Piper finished fourth (season-best 189'1") and fifth (182'8"), respectively
On the women's side, freshman Sierra Rodriguez posted a career-best distance of 115'2" to place third out of 15 throwers and lead Air Force to a pair of top-four finishes. Sophomore Liz Jarvis, in just her second collegiate meet, improved her career distance by more than 15 feet to finish fourth.
Action continues at the Aztec Invitational tomorrow (March 25). The throwing events will continue to be held at UC San Diego, while the rest of the meet -- which includes sprints, relays and jumping events for the Falcons -- will be held at San Diego State on the AzTrack Sports Deck.
