
Falcon Lacrosse Comes up Short at Boston

BOSTON, Mass. - Air Force lacrosse came up short against Boston University, 8-6, in the first meeting between the programs, March 4, in Boston, Mass. The Falcons, now 3-3 on the season, were led by junior attacker Nick Hruby, who tallied four goals against the Terriers.
The Falcons controlled the first period, netting two goals while holding the Terriers to zero. Jack Flynn assisted Hruby in his first goal of the game 12-seconds into the first period. Tewaaraton watch list attackman, Chris Walsch, followed up with his 12th goal of the season in an unassisted attack at 2:41 remaining in the opening period. Air Force closed the first period outshooting Boston, nine shots to two.
The second period was all Boston as the Terriers netted five unanswered goals to close the half, 5-2. At halftime, Air Force led in shots, 16-8, while Boston led in ground balls, 19-18. Ryan Hilburn led the Terriers in the first half with two goals.
Hilburn struck first in the third period with his hat trick goal just under two minutes into the second half. At the end of the third period, Boston added another three unanswered goals to the scoresheet. Tewaaraton watch list attackman, Cal Dearth, registered his second goal of the game in the third-period attack.
Air Force found some traction in the fourth period as Jack Flynn and Hruby added four goals to the scoresheet. Flynn's second goal of the season came just over a minute into the fourth period. Hruby netted two consecutive goals in a span of three minutes for his second hat trick of the season, bringing the Falcons within two points of a tie.
Boston's Jack Wilson added the last goal for the Terriers at the 1:49 mark, extending the lead, 8-5. With 18 seconds left in the game, Andrew Tien fed Hruby who launched the ball into the goal for his second four-goal performance of the season. Hruby extended to 19-straight games with a goal dating back to last season.
At the final whistle Air Force led in shots, 34-22. Nick Accardi led the Falcons with five ground balls. Both teams scooped up 32 ground balls on the day. Accardi and Hruby also led the Falcons in caused turnovers with two apiece. Paxton Boyer registered four saves. Face-off men Josh Radjenovich and Trent Harper combined for 11 won face-offs. Radjenovich won five-of-six while Harper won six-of-twelve.
Air Force returns to the home turf to defend Falcon Stadium against Detroit Mercy in the fourth meeting between the programs, March 11, at 12:00 p.m. MT. A live stream will be provided by Falcon Vision. Live stats will also be available for the matchup.
