Air Force falls at Wyoming

Wyoming defeated Air Force, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West women's tennis match at the UW Indoor Courts in Laramie, Wyo. The victory keeps Wyoming in first place in the conference standings with a 4-0 mark.
Air Force won the doubles point behind wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Chloe Forlini and Jocelle Rudico beat Dorottya Jonas and Ana Tkachenko, 6-3, at No. 2 while Lily Forlini and Nadeen Lieberman beat Magdalena Stencel and Milka Genkova, 6-4, at No. 3. The Cowgirls won five of six singles matches to clinch the victory. Air Force's lone win came at No. 2 when TJ Fumagalli beat Jonas, 7-5, 0-6, 6-4.
Air Force falls to 18-8 overall and 2-2 in Mountain West play. The Cowgirls improved to 16-3 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
"The team came out on fire to win the doubles point against Wyoming," Air Force head coach Kim Gidley said. "This is the first time in conference play they have dropped the doubles point, so we are on the right track against the top team in the Mountain half of the conference. In the singles portion we had a lot of opportunities to convert, but they just played the bigger points better than us. We have seven practices to improve on small areas to make a big difference. I am really proud of how this team has come together and competes every time they walk on the court."
