Air Force women's soccer was downed 2-0 by Montana on day one action Friday afternoon at the Montana Cup at South Campus Stadium in Missoula, Mont. A pair of second half goals by the Grizzlies was the difference in the match.
The two teams were deadlocked in a scoreless draw for much of the match, including a scoreless first half. Montana got on the scoreboard in the 67th minute and added an insurance goal in the 85th.
Kennedy Yost scored the first goal at the 66:46 mark off a pass from Taylor Hansen. Raye Burton scored at the 84:34 mark.
Air Force had 13 shots on the day. Junior Kaitlyn Cook had four shots and senior Angela Karamanos added three shots to lead the Falcons. Junior Jennifer Hiddink had three saves in goal for AFA.
The Falcons nearly got a score with three minutes to play, as senior Brooke Rittman was able to curl a shot across the box and over the Montana goalkeeper. Her shot took an unlucky bounce as it hit the left post flush and caromed back into the field of play.
The Falcons face Eastern Washington on Sunday to close out the tournament.
