Air Force closes out the regular season with meets in Wisconsin and Kansas.
The Air Force cross country team, which includes the 10th-ranked men's squad, closes out the regular season this Saturday (Oct. 13), when it splits for a pair of competitions. Select Falcons will return to Madison, Wis., for the annual Pre-National Invitational, while the rest of the team travels to Victoria, Kan., for the Fort Hays State Tiger Open.
MEET INFORMATION | PRE-NATIONAL INVITATIONAL
The Pre-National Invitational, which will take place on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, features more than 140 teams and includes nearly 50 squads currently mentioned in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll (39 ranked, nine receiving votes). This year's meet will feature two evenly-seeded races for both the men and the women, as well as a pair of open races. The day begins with the women's 6K races (Cardinal at 10:00 a.m., White at 10:45 a.m.) and is followed by the men's 8K events (Cardinal at 11:30 a.m., White at 12:15 p.m.) and two Gray Races (women at 1:00 p.m., men at 1:45 p.m.). Air Force will compete in the two White Races. Live results will be provided by Record Timing, while FloTrack will broadcast the meet through its subscription service.
NOTE FOR FANS TRAVELING TO THE MEET
There is no spectator parking at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, University Ridge Golf Course or on the roads near the course. Parking will be located in Verona at EPIC Systems (1979 Milky Way) and Madison West Bible Church (2920 N County Road M), with spectator shuttles running on a continuous loop for a $10 round-trip fee (cash only).

Lindsey Blanks, Teri Brady, Shanna Burns, Mikayla Gallagher, Maria Mettler, Swathi Samuel and Jaci Smith will represent the women's team in Wisconsin, while Jacob Bilvado, Mickey Davey, Scott Johnson, Alec Schrank, Trevor Siniscalchi, Nathan Thomas and Justin Weber are slated to compete for the 10th-ranked men's team.

The field will also include Minnesota, which is receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll, and teams from Arizona, Boston, Central Arkansas, Charlotte, Clemson, Florida State, Harvard, Illinois State, Indiana State, Liberty, Louisville, Miami (Ohio), Montana State, Nebraska, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Ohio State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Stony Brook, Tulane, UT Martin, Wake Forest, Weber State and Wichita State.

The annual Fort Hays State Tiger Open, which will take place on the Sand Plum Nature Trail near Victoria, Kan., will be divided into two 5K races for the women and two 8K races for the men. Competition begins for Air Force with the men's Black Race at 9:35 a.m., while the Gold Races will follow at 10:25 a.m. (women) and 11:00 a.m. (men), respectively (all times Central).

Jordan Armstrong, Hunter Boyer, Jordan Lesansee, Erik McMillan, Nikolai Rhodes, Noah Riley, Patrick Sullivan, Andrew Tankersley and Marshall Wheeler are slated to compete in the men's Gold Race at Fort Hays State, while Colin Dwyer, Chris Floyd, Ryan Ioanidis, Adam Kedge, Aric Kedge, Will Kitzhaber, Gordon Kowalkowski, Drew Lester, Luke Nolley, Konrad Steck, Joseph Wittig and Matt Zacharias will participate in the Black Race. On the women's side, Andi Almodovar, Sarah Bodmer, Sarah Deresky, Sydney Hansen, Jenna Kill, Shay Stayton and Adrianna Wilder will all compete in the Gold Race.

Backed by a strong performance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in late September, the Air Force men jumped from 17th to 10th in the Oct. 2 edition of the USTFCCCA coaches' poll – marking the program's first top-10 ranking in 15 years. Air Force, which was last listed among the nation's top 10 during Week 6 of the 2003 season, has now accounted for five top-10 rankings (Week 4 in 2001 – 9th; Week 4 in 2003 – 9th; Week 5 in 2003 – 8th; Week 6 in 2003 – 8th; Week 4 in 2018 – 10th).

Air Force returns to action on Friday, Oct. 26, when it begins the championship portion of its season at the 2018 Mountain West Cross Country Championships. The conference meet will be held at Balboa Park in San Diego and is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. (PT).
