
Falcons travel to Bill Cullum Invite in Simi Valley, Calif.

THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will travel to Simi Valley, Calif., for the 23rd annual Bill Cullum Invitational, Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 15-16, hosted by Cal State Northridge, at the Wood Ranch Golf Club. Live stats will be available at www.golfstat.com. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday, Oct. 15, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The final round on Tuesday, Oct. 16, begins at 8 a.m. PT with a shotgun start.
ABOUT THE FIELD: The 17-team field includes: Air Force, Boise State, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Idaho, San Diego, Southern Utah, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State, Utah Valley, Weber State.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The tournament is named after the legendary Cal State Northridge coach, Bill Cullum, who coached the Matadors for 21 seasons and is a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame. The par 72 course plays at 6,849 yards. Utah State won last season's tournament (-16), finishing just ahead of UC Santa Barbara (-14).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Freshman Luke Trujillo has played in nine of the 12 rounds this season and leads the team with a 74.33 stroke average. His best round of 70 came in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Junior Joseph Crisostomo, who has also played nine rounds, is second with a 74.89. Senior Tate Tatom is third (75.00). Andy Germann is the only Falcon to play in all 12 rounds this season. Crisostomo has two rounds at par or better, having a career-best 67 in the third round at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Germann's career best round of 67 came in the second round of the Falcon Invitational.
ROOKIES SHINE IN ALABAMA: A pair of freshmen led the Falcons at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, Oct. 8-9. Luke Trujillo and Jonathan Farmer each shot 218 (+8) to tie for 33rd overall. The newcomers, playing in just their third college tournament, were consistent as Trujillo shot 73-71-74 and Farmer shot 73-72-73. The 218 (+8) was the best score of Farmer's career while his 71 in the second round was his best round. For Trujillo, his 218 (+8) was the second best of his career as he shot a 217 (+1) at the Gene Miranda. His best round was a 70 in the second round of the Gene.
