Falcons travel to Alabama for Jerry Pate Intercollegiate, Oct. 8-9

The 12-team field features Air Force and Army and five of the nation's top 25
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will travel to Vestavia Hills, Ala., for the 33rd annual Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Alabama. Live stats will be available at www.golfstat.com.
ABOUT THE FIELD: The 12-team field includes five teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation. Air Force is joined by Army, No. 4 Alabama, UAB, No. 24 Arkansas, No. 23 Auburn, No. 20 BYU, Charlotte, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Samford and No. 11 UNLV.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The JPNI is one of the premier golf tournaments in the country. The host and tournament namesake, Jerry Pate, is the one of the most successful professional golfers to have worn the Crimson and White. The former Tide golfer and current Champions Tour player proudly lends his name and plays an active role — from team selection to presenting the awards trophies. Pate and Alabama have hosted this event since 1986.
Alabama has won five of the last six, including last season's event. Past individual medalists of the tournament include: David Toms, Tiger Woods, Rory Sabbatini, Hunter Mahan and Justin Thomas.
RECENTLY: Air Force placed 17th in the annual William Tucker Invitational, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 28-29, in Albuquerque, N.M. BYU won the 54-hole tournament with a 16-under-par, 848. UNLV was second at 850 (-14) while Pepperdine was third at 851 (-13). Air Force shot a three-round total of 924. Freshman Jonathan Farmer was the top Falcon, coming in at 231. Anson Kuznik shot a 232, Andy Germann (233), Josh Wu (234) and Joseph Crisostomo (238).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Junior Joseph Crisostomo leads the Falcons with a 74.89 stroke average. Senior Tate Tatom is second (75.00). Crisostomo, Andy Germann and Josh Wu are the only Falcons to play in all nine rounds this season. Crisostomo has two rounds at par or better, having a career-best 67 in the third round at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Germann's career best round of 67 came in the second round of the Falcon Invitational. Wu's season-best round of 69 came in the first round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.
