
Women's Swimming & Diving Finishes Day One of Phill Hansel Invite

The Falcons are in ninth place out of 12 teams
HOUSTON, Texas – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team wrapped up action on day one of the Phill Hansel Invitational Friday evening, Nov. 16, at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. After six events, the Falcons are in ninth place in the 12-team field.
The host Cougars lead the meet with 490 points. The Blue and Silver sit ahead of Vanderbilt, Incarnate Word, and North Texas.
After a morning full of prelims, there were five swimming finals in the evening, as well as the 1-meter dive. In the opening event, Air Force placed 11th in the 200 free relay, clocking in with a 1:35.40. In the 500 free finals, senior Elisabeth Brechbuhl was AF's top finisher, placing 24th after finishing with a 5:03.31 in the C final.
Then it was on to the 200 IM finals, where senior Emma Strom had the Falcons' top individual finish on the day after she took 21st with a 2:04.26. In the 50 free sprint, junior Esther Min was the top placer for the Falcons as she clocked in with a 23.92 to take 31st.
In the final swim of the day, Air Force had its top team finish as they placed ninth in the 400 medley relay, timing in at 3:47.58. Their prelim time was even quicker, at 3:43.14. Finally, in the 1-meter dive, junior Eve Fowler took 10th place after finishing with a total score of 244.45.
The Falcons will return to the pool tomorrow, Nov. 17, for day two of the Phill Hanel Invite. Prelims will begin at 8 a.m. MT, while finals will be contested at 5 p.m. MT.
