The scores came on touchdown runs by fullbacks Taven Birdow and Jacob Stafford and an interception return touchdown from Shaquille Vereen. Colorado State tied the game at 28-all with a touchdown drive to open the third quarter. Luke Strebel put the Falcons ahead for good with a 20 yard field goal late in the third quarter. Arion Worthman hit Ryan Reffitt with a 56 yard TD pass and added a TD run in the fourth quarter to help the Falcons put it away. Air Force had 477 total yards, including 413 rushing, and held the ball for a season-best 41:38. Worthman led the way with 117 yards rushing and a TD while Stafford added 104 yards and a score. Colorado State had 435 total yards, including 269 passing.
LAST TIME AT AIR FORCE
(Oct. 8, 2016) Air Force defeated Colorado State, 49-46, in one of the more memorable games in the long-standing in-state series. The team exchanged scores throughout and rolled up a series best 95 points and 1,093 total yards. Tim McVey led the way for Air Force with career highs of 184 yards rushing and four touchdowns while Arion Worthman added 143 yards and a score. Air Force had 534 total yards, including a season-best 485 rushing. Colorado State was led by Nick Stevens, who hit 22 of 29 passes for 374 yards and two scores. Michael Gallop had 13 catches for 213 yards and a touchdown. In the offensive showcase, it was a defensive play that made the difference. Air Force held a 49-46 lead in the final minutes with Colorado State driving. Stevens and Gallop connected on a first down throw near midfield when linebacker Grant Ross made the tackle and stripped the ball. Brodie Hicks made the recovery and Air Force gained a first down before running out the clock.

Air Force went 20-4 at home over the previous four seasons. The 20 wins is the best four-year mark in school history, breaking the record of 19 set from 1982-85 and 1998-2001 when the program went 19-4 those years.
Air Force set a record for the best three-year run from 2014-16 with a 17-1 record, breaking the mark of 15-2 from 1983-85. The Falcons were 14-3 from 1998-2000 and 1997-99 and 14-5 from 2009-11 to round out the top five marks in school history.
Air Force has finished undefeated at home just five times overall in school history, three coming under Calhoun.

Air Force and Colorado State compete each year for the Ram-Falcon Trophy. The 2018 season marks the 39th year of the trophy competition with Air Force holding a 23-15 lead. The trophy's origin is tracked back to Shelly Godkin, a former ROTC commander at Colorado State. He watched the teams play in 1978 and sought to translate his impressions into a trophy symbolic of an annual game. The first Ram-Falcon trophy game was in 1980. Air Force defeated Colorado State, 45-28, Oct. 28 to win the trophy for the second straight year and 10th in the last 12 years.
