Falcons fire best road round of season in Maui

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force golf team shot its best road round of the season on the first day of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Invitational, Friday, Nov. 2, in Maui.

In a tournament that features seven of the top 40 teams in the nation, the Falcons are tied for 18^th, after shooting a 290 (+6) in the opening round. Air Force is tied with Kansas and one stroke behind the host school, Hawai'i.

Junior Josh Wu led the Falcons with a one-under 70. After opening with a bogey on No. 10, his first hole, Wu rallied for five birdies, including three in a stretch of four holes on the front side. Freshman Jonathan Farmer shot a one-over 72. Starting on No. 10, he double-bogeyed two of his first five holes, but played the rest of the course in four-under par. Junior Bryant Falconello came in at 73 while senior Turner Howe shot 75.

Round two of the three-day, 54-hole tournament, is on Saturday, Nov. 3, with a shotgun start at 8:30 am HT. The final round is Sunday, Nov. 4, beginning at 8:30 am HT.
