Baker leads Falcons on first day of CIC Cup

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force junior Carson Baker led the Air Force golf team on the first day of the third annual Commander-in-Chief's Cup, Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Winged Foot Golf Course in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Golfers from Air Force, Army and Navy each played 36 holes in the opening round.
In the second round, Baker made three birdies en route to a 73 (+3) to lead the Falcons. Baker shot 78 (+8) in the first round and sits in fourth place overall, out of 24 golfers, with a 151 (+11).
Junior Eli Huntington made three birdies in the first round and shot a two-over-par 72. After an 83 (+13) in the second round, he is in eighth place overall at 155 (+15).
Senior Brooks Morrell finished the day in 10th place at 157 (+17). After an opening round 81, he shot a 76 (+6) in the second round with four birdies.
Senior Ted Davenport is at 158, followed by sophomore Jackson Scaletta (161), senior Eric Liveringhouse (166), freshman Ben Zeiler (167) and senior Alvaro Fonseca (168).
Navy leads the tournament at 908, followed by Army (930) and Air Force 944 (474-470). Unlike most collegiate golf tournaments where five play with the top four scores counting, this format features eight players with the top six counting.
The final 18 holes of the third-annual CIC Cup will start at 7 am ET at Winged Foot Golf Course in Mamaroneck, N.Y., Wednesday, Oct. 1.
