
Air Force Wraps Up Action at Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. –Three members of the Air Force distance squad wrapped up action at the Husky Classic this afternoon (Feb. 10) in Seattle. Carina Gillespie paced the trio at Dempsey Indoor, as she kicked off her senior season in the 3000-meter run.
Crossing the finish line in 9:31.77 – a mark just 0.26 shy of her career-best time, Gillespie won her section of that race and finished 32nd in the full field of 102 runners.
Classmate Andrew Milliron also competed in the 3000-meter event, posting a time of career-best time of 8:18.18 to finish third in his heat and 63rd in the full 101-runner field, while junior Shanna Burns finished third in her heat of the mile (54th overall) with a personal-best time of 4:59.28.
The Falcons return to the Academy next Friday (Feb. 16) to host the Air Force Collegiate Open. The meet, the squad's final tune-up before the conference championship meet, is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
