ABILENE, TX - Air Force picked up a win in doubles and three singles victories but was narrowly edged out by Abilene Christian, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Abilene, TX. The loss marks the Falcons first of the season, they are now 5-1 overall.
Tadhg Collins and Mack Galvin got off to a promising start, winning the No. 1 doubles position, 6-4, over Jonathan and Josh Sheehy. ACU would bounce back and take the second and third positions to secure the match point.
The Falcons picked up straight -set wins in positions three, four and six in singles action. Isaac Perez downed Niko Moceanu in, 7-6, 6-2. Luke Sanderson notched a win over Henry Adams, 6-4, 6-2. Paul Hendrix continued the roll with a 7-6, 6-1, victory over Paul Domanski.
The game winning point came down to the fifth position where McKendree got out to an early lead, but eventually fell to a determined Wildcat in Hunter Holman, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Falcons return to action in Abilene, Sunday morning against Oral Roberts. The match is slated for a 9 a.m. (CT) start.
