
Air Force With 7-6 Win Over Adams State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball (6-10) defeated Adams State 7-6 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Field. Junior Colby Brown hit a walk-off RBI single that scored junior Nic Ready from second base.
Air Force rallied back after it was unable to hold a 6-2 lead.
Ready reached base on a hard hit chopper that was unable to be handled by the Adams State third baseman. Ready advanced to second after Daniel Jones drew a walk. Brown then laced a single through the left side and Ready was able to beat the throw from the outfield to lift the Falcons to the win.
Air Force had 11 hits on the day. Jones went 2 for 3 with a bases loaded triple, driving in three runs. Travis Wilkie went 2 for 3 a homer and two RBIs. Ryan Robb and Rob Dau added two hits.
Jake Gilbert (2-1) picked up the win with 1.2 scoreless innings in relief. Joe Kincart pitched six innings in the start, striking out four. Luke Chilcutt relieved Kincart and pitched 1.1 innings.
Adams State had 11 hits. Orlando Romer led the way with a two-run homer and Dustin Kachel added three hits. Reliever Bryce Rone (0-1) took the loss. Starter Daniel Brennan pitched two innings. Adams State used eight pitchers in the game.
Air Force scored a run in the second and three in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Adams State scored two in the fourth before Air Force added two in the sixth to make it a 6-2 game.
The Grizzlies scored three runs in the seventh, highlighted by Romer's two-run shot. Adams State then tied it up on a sac bunt RBI by Jake Angelopulos.
The win gave Air Force head coach Mike Kazlausky 153 for his career, moving him into second place all-time for most wins at Air Force.
Air Force returns to action this weekend, hosting nationally-ranked UNLV for a three-game homestand. UNLV will be Air Force's fourth ranked opponent this season. First pitch Friday is 3 pm MT.
