HISTORY 101
Air Force is 6-37 all-time against San Diego State, but hold a 4-3 advantage during the last seven meetings. In addition, five of the Falcons' six wins over the Aztecs have come at the Academy and Air Force is 3-1 at home against SDSU over the last four years.
STAT BLAST ... NON-CONFERENCE EDITION
Two Falcons enter the conference season listed among the top of the MW in their respective statistical categories. Denise Ssozi is listed seventh in kills (3.54) and eighth in points (3.92), while Sarah Hellman is ranked seventh in digs (3.40). As a team, Air Force is ranked among the top half of the conference in assists (first, 12.58), kills (second, 13.33), digs (second, 16.53) and opponent hitting (fourth, .165).
MAKING HISTORY
Air Force finished its non-conference season with a 10-4 record. The Falcons' 10 wins are the most in non-conference action since 2003 (also 10) – and the second-most since the program joined Division I (12 in 1999). In addition, the 2018 squad marked the fifth-straight year that the Air Force has accounted for a double-digit win total – and the seventh time at the DI level.
FAST FACT
The Falcons faced nine new opponents this season, collecting a 7-2 record against their first-time foes.
COME ONE, COME ALL
Air Force packed a raucous crowd of 1316 into Cadet East Gym for their service academy showdown with Navy on Saturday, Sept. 15. That is the largest Division I crowd to ever watch an Air Force volleyball match at Cadet East Gym – and the second-largest Division I crowd to watch the Falcons play at any Academy venue (2475 at Clune Arena in 2009). It also marked the eighth time at the DI level that Air Force has reached the 1000-fan mark for a home match.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force closes out its 11-match homestand next weekend with a pair of conference contests. The Falcons will host UNLV at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 28, before welcoming New Mexico to the Academy at noon on Sunday, Sept. 30.
