Air Force Opens Home Season Monday Against McNeese State

The Falcons will host the Cowgirls at 1:00 p.m., inside East Gym on Sept. 3.
The Air Force volleyball team opens the home portion of its season tomorrow (Sept. 3), when it hosts McNeese State (0-6) at 1:00 p.m., inside Cadet East Gym. The contest will kick off an 11-match homestand for the Falcons, who are currently 4-2 on the young season.

Air Force has two Colorado natives on their roster, including Colorado Springs' freshman Victoria Lambos, who played her prep career at Air Academy High School on USAFA, and senior Sarah Hellman, a Denver native, who competed for Cherry Creek High School.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
McNeese State, who spent the past weekend playing at the DU Classic in Denver, is currently 0-6 on the season. The Cowgirls dropped a 3-1 contest to Sacramento State on Friday, before suffering losses to Denver (3-0) and UC Santa Barbara (3-1) on Saturday. Ebony Lewis currently leads McNeese State in kills, with 45 for a 2.14 per-set average.
HISTORY 101
Air Force has faced McNeese State once before, earning a 3-1 home victory over the Cowgirls in September 2003.

Of the program's first 12 non-conference opponents, the Falcons had only faced three teams (UT Arlington, McNeese State, CSU Bakersfield) prior to this season and are 2-1 against those programs at the DI level.
PENNINGTON AND SSOZI NAMED TO THE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Elizabeth Pennington and Denise Ssozi were named to the all-tournament team of the Maverick Classic on Sept. 1. It is the fourth time that both Falcons have claimed all-tourney honors in their careers.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force remains at the Academy this weekend to host the annual Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic. The three-day event, which features visiting teams from Cal Baptist, CSU Bakersfield, Presbyterian and Valparaiso, will begin with one contest on Thursday, Sept. 6, and run through Saturday, Sept. 8.
