LMU defeats Air Force, 15-8

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Alexandros Athymaritis scored four goals to lead Loyola Marymount to a 15-8 win over Air Force in a Western Water Polo Association game Saturday, Sept. 22, in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Lions scored the first three goals of the game, but Ryan Dorris and Luke Andres answered for the Falcons to cut the LMU lead to 3-2 at the end of the first. LMU outscored the Falcons, 5-2, in the second quarter for a 9-4 lead at the half. LMU then scored the first four goals of the third quarter for a 12-4 lead. Campbell Harris scored for the Falcons late in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the teams each scored three goals. Harris netted this third of the game while Justin Harrison and Henry Yavitt scored as well.

Sophomore James Burke made 10 saves in the first half, while freshman Anthony Tolbert made three in the second half.

Air Force (2-8 overall, 1-1 WWPA) plays a non-conference game on Sunday, Sept. 23, at Cal Lutheran, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., at noon PT.
