The Air Force cross country team, which includes the nationally-ranked men's squad, travels to Madison, Wis., this Friday (Sept. 28) to take on some of the nation's elite at the 10th-annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The meet, which includes 19 of the Top-30 men's teams and 15 of the Top-30 women's programs, begins at 11:00 a.m. (CT) at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
MEET INFORMATION
The annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational will take place on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, which is adjacent to University Ridge Golf Course. While the day begins with "B" races at 11:00 a.m. (CT), the Championship events are scheduled for 12:20 p.m. (women's 6K) and 1:00 p.m. (men's 8K). Live results will be provided by Eclipse Timing, while FloTrack will broadcast the meet through its subscription service (direct links to both can be found at GoAirForceFalcons.com).
NOTE FOR FANS TRAVELING TO THE MEET
There is no spectator parking at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, University Ridge Golf Course or on the county highways near the course. Parking will be located at Blackhawk Church in Middleton (9620 Brader Way), with shuttles transporting spectators to the course for a $5 round-trip fee.
THE FALCONS' LINEUP
Andi Almodovar, Lindsey Blanks, Teri Brady, Shanna Burns, Sarah Deresky, Mikayla Gallagher, Jenna Kill, Maria Mettler, Swathi Samuel and Jaci Smith will represent the women's team in Wisconsin, while Jacob Bilvado, Hunter Boyer, Mickey Davey, Scott Johnson, Nikolai Rhodes, Alec Schrank, Trevor Siniscalchi, Patrick Sullivan, Nathan Thomas and Justin Weber are slated to compete for the 17th-ranked men's team.

The 33-team field of the women's 6K "championship" race will feature 15 nationally-ranked squads, including top-ranked New Mexico, No. 2 Colorado, No. 5 Boise State, No. 6 NC State, No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 8 Villanova, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 13 Penn State, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 17 Iowa State, No. 19 Indiana, No. 25 Providence, No. 27 Georgetown, No. 29 (tie) Portland and No. 29 (tie) Oklahoma State. Colorado State and Texas, both of which are receiving votes in the latest rankings, will also compete, as well as Air Force, Bradley, Butler, Columbia, Iona, Northern Arizona, Norther Illinois, Oregon State, Purdue, San Francisco, Southern Utah, Texas Tech, Tulsa, TCU, Vanderbilt and Washington State. In addition, Alabama, Charlotte, Delaware, Southern Illinois and Tennessee will compete in the "B" race.

Highlighted by 23 teams currently mentioned the national conversation, 34 men's teams will compete in the 8K "championship" race at the Nuttycombe Invitational. The entire field includes top-ranked Northern Arizona, No. 3 Portland, No. 5 Iowa State, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Colorado, No. 9 Wisconsin, No. 10 Colorado State, No. 14 Southern Utah, No. 15 Washington State, No. 16 Iona, No. 17 Air Force, No. 21 Michigan State, No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 24 Princeton, No. 25 NC State, No. 26 Boise State, No. 27 Villanova, No. 29 Indiana and No. 30 Texas, as well as four schools that are receiving votes in the latest rankings – Butler, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown, Michigan. LAST YEAR AT NUTTYCOMBE
Backed by top-35 finishes from Mickey Davey and Andrew Johnston, the men finished 11th out of 35 teams at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in 2017. Finishing ahead of six teams ranked higher than Air Force's No. 23 standing, the men captured the program's highest finish ever at Wisconsin.
MEN HOLD MOVE TO 17TH IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Following a week off from competition, the men dropped one spot to No. 17 in the USTFCCCA coaches' poll, which was released on Sept. 25.
THE NEXT COURSE
Air Force returns to action – and to Madison – in two weeks for the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13. It is one of two competitions that day, as another group of Falcons will travel to Hays, Kan., to compete at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open.
