The Falcons defeated Seattle and Simon Fraser
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming team swept a pair of duals, defeating Seattle University, 153-33, and Simon Fraser University, 110-76, Friday evening, Jan. 11, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The Falcons (7-6) won five of the 10 events on the night, and had a finisher within the top three in all but one event.
"Our team really stepped up today," Head Coach Colleen Murphy said. "We had some in-season best times and we are in a great place heading into the final six weeks of the season."
Air Force's individual wins came in the 100 free from junior Autumn Wolfgramm (54.54), the 100 back from sophomore Kylie Stronko (57.79), and in the 100 breast from freshman Evelyn Johnson (1:06.36). The 100 breast was the top event on the day, as the Falcons finished 1-2-3, with freshman Caroline Wittich and junior Heidi Schellin finishing just behind Johnson.
The other two first place finishes came in the relays, as the Falcons finished first in both the 200 medley relay (1:47.37) and the 200 free relay (1:38.50).
Elsewhere, Air Force racked up the points with 2-3-4 finishes in both the 50 free and 400 IM, while also finishing 2-3 in the 100 fly.
The Blue and Silver will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 12, when they head on campus to Seattle U to battle the Redhawks once again in dual action. Start time at Redhawk Center is set for 12 p.m. MT.
