Women’s Tennis Handles Northern Colorado, 7-0

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's tennis swept Northern Colorado, 7-0, in its spring home-opener Friday night at the indoor tennis courts at Cadet Gym. The Falcons remain undefeated this season, improving to 4-0.

The Falcons won five singles matches in two sets and allowed just three points over three doubles matches.

In doubles, the No. 1 duo of TJ Fumagalli and Kristin Kerrigan defeated Anna Battersby and Madeline Doherty of Northern Colorado 6-0. The No. 2 group of Meredith Jones and Ashleigh Harvey defeated Sarina Chhabra and Synclair Larson 5-2. The No. 3 group of Elizabeth Barnickel and Nadeen Lieberman defeated Sandra Keta and Mana Koitabashi 6-1.

In the singles, TJ Fumagalli won the No. 1 singles over Anna Battersby 6-3, 6-0. Elizabeth Barnickel won the No. 2 singles over Sandra Keta 6-1, 6-4. Meredith Jones won the No. 3 singles over Madeline Doherty 6-2, 6-1.

Kristin Kerrigan won at No. 4 singles over Sarina Chhabra 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. Ashleigh Harvey won at No. 5 singles over Synclair Larson 6-3, 7-6 and Nadeen Lieberman won at No. 6 singles over Mana Koitabashi 6-2, 6-2.

"It was nice to play at home in front of the cadets," Air Force head coach Kim Gidley said. "The cadets have a special bond in competing in front of their peers. Out team dominated in the doubles, which is something we pride ourselves on. In the singles, Northern Colorado did a good job of making us earn the point, which is great for us heading into tomorrow vs. Colorado and Montana State."

Air Force returns to competition tomorrow, hosting Colorado and Montana State. The Colorado dual is at 11:30 am and the Montana State dual is at 6 pm.
