Falcons Continue Intersquad Action on Friday

Alan Long and Maddie Lloyd named the Boxer of the Week for their respective teams..
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team returned to the Academy this evening (Oct. 11), as it hosted 10 intersquad matches during its second Friday Night Fights of the season. Freshman Alan Long was named the men's Boxer of the Week, while sophomore Maddie Lloyd received the weekly honor on the women's side.
Long earned the men's weekly award after claimed a 175-pound victory over sophomore Fabian Manzo. He was one of two freshmen to pick up a win, as classmate Walker Morris defeated junior Luke Kilianski in a 182-pound bout.
Sophomores Ayaz Mustafa and Francisco Garcia collected victories on Friday night, as Mustafa decisioned senior Jacob Ragland at 159 pounds and Garcia took the victory over freshman Tyler Dalzell in the 160-pound contest. Justin Couty represented the men's Junior Class after winning his 145-pound match with sophomore Maksat Omar, while seniors Cenada Clifton-Smith and Nick Pingel capped the men's list of winners with victories in the 185-pound (senior Austin Dreyer) and heavyweight (sophomore Wayne Overman), respectively.
Lloyd was one of three winners on the women's side, as she earned a 150-pound victory over junior Isabel Eicher. Fellow junior Shay Stayton earned a 125-pound decision over freshman Devon Grundvig, while junior Dre'Yana decisioned sophomore Ymani Nesmith in a 188-pound contest.
The Falcons return to action next Friday (Oct. 18), when they travel to Reno, Nev., for a competition.
