The Air Force volleyball team returns to the Academy this week for a pair of conference contests. The Falcons will host Fresno State on Thursday, Oct. 17, before welcoming San Diego State to Cadet East Gym on Saturday, Oct. 19.
MATCH NOTES
Live stats and video will be available for both matches via GoAirForceFalcons.com and the Mountain West Network, with Jason Carter and Matt McShane on the call.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Fresno State enters Thursdays' matchup with an 11-8 overall record and a 4-3 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs, who swept San Diego State 26-24, 25-22, 25-19 at home on Monday night, will be making their second trip to the Front Range in less than a week, as they played at Colorado State (3-0 loss on Thursday) and Wyoming (3-0 loss on Saturday) last week. Desiree Sukhov leads the Bulldogs with a 4.09 kills-per-set average, while the team averages nearly one more kill per set than their opponents.
SCOUTING THE AZTECS
After dropping a 24-26, 22-25, 19-25 road match to Fresno State on Monday, San Diego State enters its match at the Academy with an even 9-9 overall mark and a 2-5 record in the Mountain West. Like their travel partners from Fresno, the Aztecs will be returning to the Front Range for the second time in as many weeks after falling in straight sets to both Wyoming (Thursday) and Colorado State (Saturday). Both Hannah Turnland (3.53) and Victoria O'Sullivan (3.28) average at least three kills a set, while Loren Teter leads the Aztecs with a 3.46 digs-per-set average.

Air Force, which has won its last four meetings with Fresno State, is currently 7-9 against the Bulldogs in the all-time series between the two schools – and 7-5 since Fresno State joined the Mountain West in 2013. The Falcons are 7-37 all-time against San Diego State, but have won five of their last eight meetings against the Aztecs, including the last two home contests.
