Last Time Out
The Falcons had its third straight 1-1 weekend in Mountain West Conference action, defeating UNLV in overtime, 2-1, before falling to Nevada, also in OT, 2-1. Junior Emma Nelson and freshman Lexi Romero both led the offense with three points each. For Romero, she now has a team-leading 24 points on the season.
Freshman Sensation
Freshman Lexi Romero could not have asked for a much better start to her career, as the forward leads the team with 10 goals and 24 points. The 10 goals are tied for first in the MW, while the 24 points rank second in the conference, second only to reigning MW POTY Raimee Sherle, who has 10 and 26, respectively. In addition, her .77 goals per game and 1.85 points per game both rank first in the conference. She is also in the top-25 nationally in all four categories, including 20th in goals and goals per game.
Potent Offense
The Falcons so far have presented one of the most potent offenses in the Mountain West Conference. They currently rank second in the conference in total points, total goals, and scoring offense, while ranking third in the MW in points per game, total assists, assists per game, shots per game, and shots on goal per game.
Record Chasing
With five games remaining, freshman Lexi Romero has her sights set on some single season records. She is just two goals away from setting the freshman record for goals in a season, while she is three away from breaking the program record of 12, set back in 1993 by Tracy Healy. In addition, she needs five points to break the freshman record, and six to break the program record, also held by Tracy Healy in 1993.
Up Next
The Falcons get back on the road for the final away contests of the 2019 conference season, as they head to Utah State, Friday, Oct. 25, followed by a trip to conference leaders Boise State, Sunday, Oct. 27.
