THIS WEEK: The Air Force Academy wrestling team opens its 2019-20 home and Big 12 Conference dual schedule by hosting the rival Wyoming Cowboys, Saturday, Nov. 16 inside Clune Arena. Action is set to begin at 7 p.m.
FOLLOWING THE ACTION: The dual this weekend will be streamed live for free on Trackwrestling, with live results through Trackwrestling as well. Fans can also follow results live on Twitter by following @AF_Wrestle.
LAST WEEKEND AT THE MOUNTAINEER INVITE: The Falcons placed seven wrestlers in the top three of their weight class in a successful day at the Mountaineer Invitational Saturday evening, Nov. 9, in Boone N.C. Junior Lenny Petersen and senior Randy Meneweather both placed first in their respective weight classes.
Petersen went 4-0 at 141 lbs. while Meneweather was a perfect 3-0 at 165 lbs. Petersen moves to 9-1 on the season, while Meneweather is a perfect 8-0 on the season. Petersen had two wins via major decision and a pin while Meneweather had a pin, major decision, and a decision.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN WRESTLING NIGHT: Air Force wrestling is hosting Rocky Mountain Wrestling Night this Saturday. The Falcons invite all area high school, middle school, and youth programs to become a Team of the Match, which gets you discounted tickets, pre-match pizza and drinks, as well as an opportunity to meet Falcon wrestlers. NATIONALLY RANKED FALCONS: Coming into the weekend, Air Force has four of its wrestlers gaining recognition in some national rankings. In the FloWrestling poll, Sophomore Sidney Flores is #16 at 125 lbs., junior Lenny Petersen is #25 at 141 lbs. and sophomore Kayne Hutchison is #24 at heavyweight. In the Trackwrestling poll, senior Randy Meneweather is #30 at 165 lbs.
HISTORY WITH THE COWBOYS: Saturday will mark the 56th meeting between Wyoming and Air Force on the mats, with Wyoming leading the all-time series 43-12. The last win for AF in the series came back in 2008, a 21-12 victory in the season finale.
LAST SEASON VS WYOMING: Air Force fell in Big 12 dual action to No. 12 Wyoming, 33-3, Friday evening, Jan. 18 at the UniWyo Sports Complex. Then junior Garrett O'Shea won the lone match for AF at 141 lbs. by 4-1 decision.

In addition, junior Cody Surratt has four D1 pins this season, which is tied for the second-most in the nation. His average time of pin is 1:09, the best of any wrestler with four pins.
NEXT WEEK: The Falcons will head east next weekend for a pair of competitions, beginning with a dual against Hofstra, Thursday, Nov. 21. Action begins at 5 p.m. MT. Then AF heads down to Navy to compete in the Navy Classic, Saturday, Nov. 23. Action in Annapolis begins at 10 a.m. ET and runs all day.
