Falcons Close Out Season Hosting New Mexico, UNLV

Air Force will host the Lobos (Nov. 21) and Rebels (Nov. 23) at Cadet East Gym.
The Air Force volleyball team closes out the 2019 campaign at the Academy this weekend, as it wraps up conference play against New Mexico and UNLV. The Falcons will welcome the Lobos to Cadet East Gym at 6:30 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Nov. 21, before hosting the Rebels at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 23.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS
New Mexico, which hosts UNLV on Tuesday night, is currently 10-18 on the season and holds a 5-11 mark in Mountain West action. The Lobos collected a pair of home victories last week, as it defeated San Jose State in four and Nevada in three. New Mexico has a pair of athletes listed among the conference's top 10 in blocks (Rachel Murphy: fifth at 1.29, Yasmin Tan: ninth at 1.16), while Lauren Twitty is ranked 10th in kills (3.02).
SCOUTING THE REBELS
UNLV, which travels to Albuquerque on Tuesday, enters the final week of the conference season with a 17-10 overall mark and a 13-3 record in Mountain West play. The Rebels defeated Nevada (3-1) and San Jose State (3-0) during last week's action and have now won 13 of their last 14 matches. Mariena Hayden, who leads the league in kills (4.39) and aces (0.71), averages a MW-best 5.36 points per set – a mark nearly one point higher than the rest of the league. As a team, UNLV leads the conference in service aces (2.02) and is listed ranked second in both kills (13.50) and assists (12.47).
SERIES HISTORY
The Falcons are 5-38 in their lifetime series with New Mexico, with three of those five victories coming at the Academy. Air Force is 5-41 all-time against UNLV, with two of those wins coming in the last three seasons. Earlier this season, the Falcons split their road trip with the pair, falling to the Rebels in four at Cox Pavilion and sweeping the Lobos at The Pit.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Against Mountain West opponents, three Falcons are ranked among the conference's top 10. Denise Ssozi is listed sixth in kills (3.27) and 10th in points (3.57), while Alex King is ranked fourth in digs (4.17) and Andi Ahlers is listed sixth in assists (9.08). As a team, the Falcons are ranked fourth in digs (14.20) and fifth in service aces (1.39).

Air Force finished the road portion of its season with a 3-7 record. The three victories are tied for the second-most road wins by an Air Force team at the Division I level. It is the third-straight season that the Falcons have accounted for three wins – a mark that only trails the program standard of four (1999, 2003).
