"We won both relays against a team that has dominated the relays at the last few conference championships. It was a tremendous day, and we will try and put together another great day tomorrow, but I was very happy with how we swam tonight."
The day started off with a victory in the 400 medley relay, led by the squad of senior Zach Nelson, as well as sophomores Isaac Gwin, Aaron Pang, and Corey Shepard.
Nelson went on to have a great evening, winning both the 200 IM and 200 breast. Meanwhile, Gwin and Pang also notched individual wins, Gwin in the 200 back, and Pang in the 200 fly, which he tied for first in against classmate Andrew Limpert.
In the individual freestyle events, junior Adam Grimm and freshman Wen Zhang nabbed wins in the longer version (Grimm, 1000 free) and shorter version (Zhang 200 free). The in the final relay, the 400 free, Shepard, Gwin, Limpert, and Zhang put a cap on a great evening, winning the eighth event overall.
Over on the diving board, junior Jack Zocher was the top finisher for AF, taking third place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter.
