Air Force Unable To Overtake Drake In 85-80 Loss

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball dropped an 85-80 contest to Drake in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Senior Ryan Swan led the Falcons with 24 points.
Air Force (6-7) erased a 16 point deficit in the second half, only to have Drake (10-3) rally back. The Falcons trailed the Bulldogs 42-26 with 2:16 in the first half and went to halftime trailing 44-34 after an 8-2 run.
Air Force chipped away at the Drake lead and managed to take the lead at 55-54 with 13:25 to play, as Caleb Morris knocked down a three. The Falcons led by as many as three points before the Bulldogs rallied late.
The Falcons dropped the contest despite shooting 55 percent from the field and 57 percent from three-point range. In an evenly matched game throughout, it was the 13-6 offensive rebounding and 18-4 second chance points that helped lead to Drake's win.
Swan surpassed 20 points for the first time this season, knocking down four three's and four three throws in the process.
Joining Swan in double figures, were Lavelle Scottie and Abe Kinrade. Scottie scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds. Kinrade came off the bench to put up career-high's of 13 points and three three's.
Caleb Morris and AJ Walker added nine points each. Morris hit a pair of three's and added four rebounds and four assists. Walker also dished out four assists.
Guard Roman Penn led Drake with 22 points and nine assists. The Bulldogs shot 52.5 percent from the field and 46 percent from three point range.
Air Force is off from competition the next 10 days, returning to action hosting UC Riverside on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31 at 2 pm.
