Air Force Thumps UC Riverside, 105-56

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball capped the decade with a dominant 105-56 win over UC Riverside on New Year's Eve Tuesday afternoon at Clune Arena. In its final non-conference game, the Falcons (7-7, 1-1 MW) shot a blistering 60.7 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from three-point range.
The senior trio of Ryan Swan, Lavelle Scottie and Caleb Morris combined for 59 points. Swan scored 25 points--the most by a Falcon this season--going 7 of 11 from the field and 9 of 9 from the free throw line. With his 24 points against Drake, Swan has scored 49 points over his last two games.
Morris set career-high's of 22 points and six three's. The senior went 7 of 8 from the field and 6 of 7 from three-point range. Scottie was the third Falcon in double-figures, scoring 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting.
Air Force scored the first four points of the game and went up 10-2 immediately after back-to-back three's by Swan and Morris. The Falcons jumped out to a 52-29 halftime lead and went on to out-score the Highlanders (9-6) 53-27 in the second half.
The 105 points scored was the 10th highest in program history. The 49 point victory margin was the seventh-highest in program history and the second-highest against a Div. I opponent.
The Falcons held UC Riverside to 32 percent shooting. George Willborn III and Angus McWilliam led UCR with eight points each.
The Falcons made 34 of 56 from the field and 15 of 23 from three-point range. They were efficient from the line as well, making 88 percent (22 of 25). The Falcons made its first 16 free throws to start the game.
Air Force had 34 points from its bench. LeSean Brown had a season-high five points and Nikc Jackson scored a career-high six points. Carter Murphy scored eight points, hitting a pair of three's. Murphy has now made six consecutive three's to start his career. Solomon Pierre-Louis also scored his first collegiate points.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 4 with a Mountain West contest at UNLV. Tip time is 7 pm PT and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
