Women’s Tennis Blanks Florida A&M, 7-0

Air Force women's tennis defeated Florida A&M, 7-0, Thursday in Tallahassee, Fla. The Falcons are now 11-0 on the season and one shy of tying the school record for best start.
The Falcons head into a big Saturday dual with Army West Point at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. looking to tie the school record for best start.
The Falcons swept the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the doubles point. The duo of TJ Fumagalli and Kristin Kerrigan won 6-0 at No. 1 and Meredith Jones and Ashleigh Harvey won 6-4 at No. 2.
The Falcons then went 6-0 in singles competion, winning four matches in two sets.
Fumagalli earned the win at No. 1 over Mialiniania Rakotondrafazy 6-5, 7-6. Elizabeth Barnickel then won at No. 2 over Haleigh Porter 6-0, 7-6.
Meredith Jones then won in three sets at No. 3 over Aylen Hubeaut 6-2, 6-7, 6-2. Kerrigan then came back to win at No. 4 in three sets over Rachel Harden 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The Falcons then got two set sweeps at No. 5 and 6. Harvey defeated Sophia Osabuohien 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 and Nadeen Lieberman defeated Karen Machisa at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.
"It was great to get to play at sea level and get a match in," Air Force head coach Kim Gidley said. "Florida A&M pushed us in some of the singles, which was great for our team right now."
