Air Force Finalizes Wing Open Roster with Semifinals

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Wing Open roster was finalized this afternoon (Feb. 21), as nine members of the Air Force boxing team secured their place in the finals with semifinal victories. Junior Levi Rate was named the Academy's Boxer of the Week, as the bracket was determined for eight weight classes.

Rate, who secured his spot in the finals after decisioning freshman Ayaz Musafa, will face junior William Ragland in the finals, as Ragland picked up a victory over freshman Justin Hontanosas in the other semifinal bout – the only weight division were both spots were up for grabs.

Sophomore Fintan Nakada earned a walkover win at 132 pounds, while freshman Zach Phillips earned a 147-pound victory over sophomore Armani Resto. Senior Xavier Cardinal picked up a 165-pound decision over sophomore Kyle Partman, sophomore Luke Kilianski won the 175-pound semifinal over freshman squadmate Luca Pisani, and junior Nick Pingel decisioned senior Deon Dodd at 185 pounds. Senior Kenny Osinloye picked up the final semifinal of the day, as he defeated classmate Cody Gessler in the heavyweight round.

With the semifinal round of the Wing Open complete, the Falcons head under the lights of Clune Arena for the championship round on Thursday, Feb. 28, beginning at 6:00 p.m. (MT).
