Falcon Lacrosse Opens Southern Conference Slate at Mercer

Air Force lacrosse will face off with SoCon foe Mercer, at 12 p.m. ET, at Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia
THIS WEEKEND
The Falcons hit the road to open the Southern Conference slate against the Mercer Bears, Saturday, March 16, in Macon, Georgia. Action is slated for noon ET, at Five Star Stadium.
THE SERIES WITH MERCER:
The Falcons lead the Bears in the all-time series, 7-1.
-The series began in 2011
-Air Force has never lost in Macon, Georgia
-Mercer beat Air Force for the first time ever in the last meeting, 9-7, at USAFA
-Air Force's longest streak was seven games
-The Falcons have outscored the Bears, 114-59, in all games combined
-Air Force's largest margin of victory was 16 goals (20-4) in 2012
A LOOK AHEAD
The Falcons will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, to take on SoCon foes, Furman, on Saturday, March 23. The Falcons and Paladins are slated for a 12 p.m. ET face-off at Paladin Stadium. On the following Tuesday, Air Force will travel to New Haven, Connecticut, to take on 218 NCAA Champions Yale, 7 p.m. ET, March 26.
LAST TIME OUT
Four Falcon lacrosse players registered hat tricks to command a 19-9 victory over the University of Detroit in a Wednesday afternoon matinee (Mar. 6) at Falcon Stadium. Air Force's Coloradan and Minnesotan representatives had a highlight-reel of a day as five Falcons, two from Minnesota and three from Colorado, combined for 13 goals in the assault. Of the four Falcons with hat tricks, it was Trey Lervick who led the way with four goals and an assist on the day. The senior from Woodbury, Minnesota, has four hat tricks this season, two of which were four-goal performances. Lervick leads the squad with 15 goals this season.
JONES DRAFTED BY THE DENVER OUTLAWS
Air Force lacrosse senior team captain Brandon Jones was drafted by the Major Lacrosse League's Denver Outlaws in the fourth round as the 36th overall pick, Saturday afternoon (Mar. 9), in the 2019 MLL Draft. Jones, a management major from Upper Arlington, Ohio, is the Falcons' lead defenseman, starting in all 42 career appearances to date. The 2016 SoCon Freshman of the Year leads the Falcons in career caused turnovers with 65 to his credit, a mark that ranks him third in the Academy's modern era record book. The first-team All-SoCon defender is the Academy's sixth professional lacrosse draftee.
