#71 Women’s Tennis Sweeps Colorado State, 4-0

The 71st ranked Air Force women's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 win at Colorado State Friday at the CSU Tennis Complex. The Falcons improved to 19-1, 2-0 MW on the season. The dual was delayed four and a half hours from its original start time of 2 pm to 6:30 pm due to inclement weather, which forced the action to the indoor courts.

"To win a conference match on the road against a Colorado State team we lost to last year without losing a match was a big confidence-boost for us as we head up to Wyoming Saturday," head coach Kim Gidley said. "All year long this team has worked to be prepared for conference play. It's here and we were prepared and ready."

The Falcons opened in doubles with a dominant performance, outscoring the Rams 15-1. Air Force claimed the doubles point with 6-0 and 6-1 wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles.

Ashleigh Harvey and Meredith Jones won at No. 2 over Alyssa Grijalva/Riley Reeves 6-0. Nadeen Lieberman and Elizabeth Barnickel won at No. 3 over Priscilla Palermo/Emily Luetschwager 6-1.

"Due to inclement weather, we had to play indoors on three courts," Gidley said. "We came out in dominating form, winning at no. 2 & 3 doubles with only losing one game.

In singles, the Falcons took the match with two-set wins at No. 4, 6 and 5 singles. Kristin Kerrigan got singles started with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 over Priscilla Palermo.

"Kristin had a solid performance at no. 4, winning first in straight sets," Gidley said. "She really played solid and worked hard for the victory."

Nadeen Lieberman won at No. 6 over Riley Reeves 6-3, 7-6. Ashleigh Harvey capped the win for the Falcons at No. 5 with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Emma Corwin.

"Nadeen really stayed focused and disciplined in the second set to earn the win," Gidley said. "Ashleigh Harvey would finish off the match, also in straight sets, coming from behind in the second set. Ashleigh has been in this situation several times this year and she is coming through like a champ."

"This was a great opportunity to for the bottom of our line-up to show how strong we are," Gidley said. "From top to bottom, this is a great team. We have worked hard to get where we are at and it is fun to see the success."

The Falcons return to action tomorrow, March 30 at Wyoming.
