
Former Falcon Shane Starrett earns AHL honors

Starrett named to the AHL all-rookie team and AHL second all-star
Former Air Force goalie Shane Starrett, currently a member of the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, has been honored twice this week by the AHL. Starrett was named to the AHL all-rookie team and was selected as an AHL second all-star. The Edmonton Oilers prospect has played in 41 games (as of April 10) and has a 2.31 GAA, a .919 saves percentage and a record of 26-12-2 and four shutouts.
Starrett, played two seasons for the Falcons before leaving the Academy after signing a contract with the Oilers in the spring of 2017. Starrett helped lead Air Force to the 2016-17 Atlantic Hockey Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Elite Eight. Starrett was named the hockey team's MVP as a freshman and sophomore. He holds the Academy career record for saves percentage (.924) and goals-against average (1.96). He played in 70 games and had a 42-15-9 record with nine shutouts.
In 2017-18, Starrett played for the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL and played in the ECHHL all-star game. He played in 38 games that season and had a 3.01 GAA with a .912 saves percentage and a 17-14-0 record with one shutout.
