Falcons headed to Mountain West Championships

The Mountain West Championships begin April 26 in Tucson, Ariz.
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the annual Mountain West Conference Championships, Friday-Sunday, April 26-28, at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com. The teams will play 18 holes each day starting at 7 a.m. MST on Friday, April 26.
ABOUT THE FIELD: Along with Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State and Wyoming will compete for the conference championship. Seven of the 11 teams in the conference are ranked in the top 75 in the nation.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: After a one-year hiatus to Bremerton, Wash., the MW Championships are back at the Omni National Catalina Course. The Championship was held at the Catalina Course from 2007-2017. The Catalina Course has hosted more than 30 PGA Tour Events and also hosted the 2006 NCAA Regional. Past PGA winners at the Catalina Course include Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller, David
Duval and Phil Mickelson.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Last season, Air Force placed 10th in the Mountain West Championships with 54-hole score of 917 (+53). The Falcons finished five strokes ahead of Utah State. UNLV won the tournament with an eight-under 856. UNLV's Shintaro Ban ran away with the individual title at 16-under 200. Anson Kuznik was Air Force's top finisher, tied for 37th at 228 (+12). Air Force's highest finish at the conference tournament was fourth in both 2014 and 2013. Air Force's highest individual came in 2014 when Kyle Westmoreland placed fourth with a two-under 211.
THE FALCON FIVE: Air Force's five golfers that will compete in the MW Championships are: senior Andy Germann, juniors Anson Kuznik and Josh Wu and freshmen Jonathan Farmer and Luke Trujillo. Freshman Colter Baca will also make the trip as the sixth golfer. Germann and Wu both played the Omni Course in 2017. Germann shot a two-under 70 in the final round for a three-round total of 217 (+1). Wu shot a one-under 71 in the second round for a three-round total of 221 (+5).
