Men’s Tennis Announces 2019 Fall Slate

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis released its schedule for the 2019 fall season, announced today by head coach Dan Oosterhous. Highlighting the fall slate are several events, which include the Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the US Open, The ITA Bedford Cup in the Mountains and the Air Force-Army Challenge at the historic Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC.
The Falcons open the fall by participating in the Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the US Open on Aug. 24 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The team will assist in kids clinics and also be on hand for 2019 graduate Isaac Perez to receive the Div. I men's tennis Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship National Award. Arthur Ashe Kids' Day is the largest single-day, grassroots tennis and entertainment event in the world.
Air Force gets on the courts Thursday, Aug. 29, with the Blue-Silver scrimmage to kick-off the inaugural Parent's Weekend at the Academy.
The Falcons open competition in late September, hosting the ITA Mountain Region Bedford Cup Sept. 27-29. The three-day event is slated to feature some of the top competitors from the ITA Mountain Region.
October is a busy month for Air Force, as the team competes in three events. The Falcons participate in the Idaho State Fall Invitational, Oct. 4-6, in Pocatello, Idaho. Air Force is also sending competitors to the ITA All-American Championships, held Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla. The month concludes at the ITA Mountain Regionals, Oct. 16-20, in Denver.
Air Force wraps-up the fall with the Air Force-Army Challenge, held Nov. 8-10, at the historic Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC. Air Force, Army, James Madison and Georgetown are slated to compete in the three-day event.
"Our fall schedule will give us many great opportunities to compete against a strong field of teams, including a very special tournament with Army in the DC area," Oosterhous said. "We are working to make this an annual event and are encouraging all our alumni and fans to support. I'm very honored that our team has been invited to participate in Arthur Ashe Kids' Day at the US Open. This will be our first time to volunteer at this event and we are excited to help introduce our sport to the next generation of tennis players."
