Air Force Falls to Gonzaga in Tournament Finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Air Force volleyball team closed out the Service Academy Challenge with a 3-0 loss to Gonzaga on Saturday, Aug. 31. Freshman BrookeLyn Messenger paced the Falcons with eight kills during the squad's 25-16, 27-25, 25-22 loss to the visiting Zags.

Sophomores Vittoria Juarez and Bailey Keith, as well as junior Mackenzie Robertson, added six kills apiece, while the two second-year players each accounted for a service ace and Robertson led team with three blocks (one solo, two assisted). Junior Andi Ahlers registered a team-high two aces and added a match-high 26 assists, while classmate Alex King and Juarez both registered double-digit dig totals, as the pair combined for 28 of the team's 39 digs (17 for King, 11 for Juarez).

Ssozi, in limited action while returning from injury, posted a match-high .667 average, collecting four kills on six swings, with no errors, while Robertson hit over .300 with six kills on 15 swings and one error (.333).

The Falcons return to action next weekend (Sept. 6-7), when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the Oral Roberts Invitational.
