Air Force Men’s Tennis Welcomes Class of 2023

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis welcomes four freshman that comprise the class of 2023, announced today by head coach Dan Oosterhous. Four freshmen recently completed basic cadet training (BCT) and join the team for the 2019-20 season.
Morgan Ihrig, Denali Joe Kitayama, Jonathan Mascagni and Justin Waldman join the Falcons this season, all-coming to the Academy as nationally-ranked high school players.
"Our incoming freshmen are going to play a huge role this season," Oosterhous said. "They are all very talented and we expect a lot out of this class. I'm very proud of them for making it through a tough BCT and can't wait to start coaching them on the court."

Tennis Recruiting national ranking of #76 as a senior … coached at IMG by Justin Pickham … graduated on the honor roll ... brother, Mark, is a senior on the tennis team at the University of Denver.
Denali Joe Kitayama - West Bloomfield Township, MI (USAFA Prep/Walled Lake Central HS)
Attended the USAFA Prep School in 2018-19 … earned the Dean's rope and Commandant's rope ... lettered two years in high school tennis, playing for his father, Nova Kitayama … Tennis Recruiting national ranking of #123 as a senior.
Jonathan Mascagni - Alpharetta, GA (Milton, GA)
Tennis Recruiting national ranking of #59 as a senior … lettered two years in tennis … high school coaches were Clark Nixon and Taylor Thomas … earned team most valuable player both seasons … also competed for Next Level Tennis Academy, coached by Edina Gallovits-Hall and Carlos Cobos … 2018 USTA Junior Team National Champion … competed at 2017/2018 Georgia Southern Cup … 2017 Georgia Qualifier finalist in doubles … 2016 Winter Nationals finalist in doubles NAT L1 (Silver Ball) … graduated with honors … graduate of Power of Peace Program, awarded academic excellence in economics and participated in Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program.
Justin Waldman - Marietta, GA (North Paulding HS)
Tennis Recruiting national ranking of #109 as a senior… Lettered four years in tennis … high school coach was Bernie Cordial … four-time Paulding County Player of the Year for Tennis … sent undefeated as a sophomore, junior and senior at North Paulding … four-time state team tournament participant … also played for Atlanta Tennis Inc. (ATi) and was coached by Austin Roebuck … graduated in top 10 percent of graduating class … received highest marks in honors Spanish and honors US History … four-star ranking and as high at #13 in the southern section and #3 in USTA rankings for Georgia … participated in Hard and Clay National Championships, two-time doubles and one-time singles championship finalist in Georgia State Qualifying Championship … doubles finalist in Southern Closed Championship and Sportsmanship Award recipient at Southern Closed Championship.
The Falcons open the 2019 fall season Aug. 29 with the Blue-Silver Scrimmage.
