Falcons End Non-Conference Slate with Three Matches

Air Force will host Denver (Sept. 19), Montana (Sept 20) and Santa Clara (Sept 21) at the Academy.
The Air Force volleyball team closes out the non-conference portion of its season this week, when it hosts part of the Thin Air Challenge on Sept 19-21. The Falcons open the three-night event against tournament co-host Denver on Thursday, Sept. 19, before welcoming Montana and Santa Clara to the Academy's Cadet East Gym on Friday (Sept. 20) and Saturday (Sept. 21), respectively.

COMPLETE SCHEDULE
Sept 19: Air Force vs Denver (USAFA) – 6:30 p.m.
Sept 20: Montana vs Santa Clara (Denver) – 10:00 a.m.
Sept 20: Denver vs Santa Clara (Denver) – 6:00 p.m.
Sept 20: Air Force vs Montana (USAFA) – 6:30 p.m.
Sept 21: Denver vs Montana (Denver) – 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Denver, which is 6-3 on the season, is coming off of a 1-2 weekend at the Ameritas Players Challenge in Lincoln, where it defeated Loyola Marymount in five sets, before falling to second-ranked Nebraska and High Point. Montana, which will face Santa Clara in Denver before visiting the Academy, is 0-8 on the season after falling to CSU Bakersfield and UTEP in straight sets in Missoula. Santa Clara, which will have two matches before facing the Falcons in the tournament finale, enters the weekend with an 8-2 mark after facing San Jose State (3-1 victory), Marist (0-3 loss) and Northern Colorado (3-1 victory) at its own South Bay Battle.
SERIES HISTORY
Although Air Force has not faced its in-state counterparts since 2015, the Falcons hold a 35-13 lifetime advantage over Denver – and an 11-6 lead at the Division I level. Air Force, which also last faced Montana during that 2015 season, holds a 3-0 lifetime mark against the Griz – and a 1-0 mark since joining Division I – with every match going five sets. The Falcons have never faced Santa Clara.
KEITH NAMED TO THE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Bailey Keith was named to the all-tournament team of the Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic after a weekend that included an 18-kill performance against Virginia Tech and a 16-dig/six-block outing against UC Irvine.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
With a 35-assist, 12-dig performance against UC Irvine, Andi Ahlers recorded the 10th double-double of her career on Sept. 13. She is now the 13th Falcon at the Division I level to tally at least 10 double-doubles in a career.
WHAT'S ON DECK
With its non-conference schedule complete, Air Force will turn its attention to the Mountain West. The Falcons open conference play against Utah State at the Academy next Thursday (Sept. 26), before traveling to Idaho to face Boise State on Saturday (Sept. 28).
