Air Force host the Aggies in its MW-opener on Sept. 26, before traveling to Boise on Sept. 28.
The Air Force volleyball team kicks off the second part of its season this week, when it opens Mountain West play with a pair of matches. The Falcons will wrap up a seven-match homestand against Utah State on Thursday, Sept. 26, before traveling to Idaho for a matchup with Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 28.
UTAH STATE MEET INFORMATION
Live stats and video will be available for Thursday's match via GoAirForceFalcons.com and the Mountain West Network, with George Egan and Jason Carter on the call. Direct links are available on the Air Force schedule page.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Utah State, which will host Boise State in Logan on Tuesday night, is currently 0-12 on the season following a pair of in-state losses to Utah Valley and Weber State last weekend – and in the midst of an 18-match losing skid that dates back to last season. The Aggies do not have any common non-conference opponents with the Falcons. Three Aggies average at least two kills a set, with Gabbi Shumway pacing the group with a 2.47 kps average.
BOISE STATE MEET INFORMATION
Boise State will offer live stats, while a live video broadcast will be available on the Mountain West Network (direct links are available on the Air Force schedule page). Tickets, which are $6 for adults, $4 for youth (2-18) and $4 for seniors (62+), can be purchased at the door. Saturday's match is Military Appreciation Day at Bronco Gym – veterans and active service members (with ID) will receive free admission, while their families will receive $3 admission.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Boise State heads into the first week of conference play with an 8-3 record, following 3-0 victories over Idaho State and UC Irvine – a common non-conference opponent with the Falcons – last weekend at the Boise State Classic. BSU, which has faced three top-25 teams this season, are 2-0 at home this season. Three Bronco players are averaging more than 2.65 kills per set, with Jannell Walley leading the trio with a 3.71 kps mark.
SERIES HISTORY
Air Force, which defeated both teams in their final meetings last year, is 3-8 all-time against Utah State and 4-13 against Boise State. The Falcons' last two victories over the Aggies have come at the Academy (2018, 2017), while Air Force has never won in Boise. This is the only meeting of the season between Air Force and its two opponents this weekend.
WHAT'S ON DECK
Air Force returns to the Academy for a pair of home matches next week, when it hosts Wyoming (Oct. 3) and 22nd-ranked Colorado State (Oct. 5) at the Academy's Cadet East Gym.
