It also marks Senior Day for both programs
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to host Denver for the Colorado Sprint Championships, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, inside Cadet Natatroium. Start time against the Pioneers is set for 12 p.m.
The meet will be scored as a dual meet, but has a unique format. The unique format of this sprint elimination meet consists of three 50's of each stroke being swam to eventually whittle the field down to the four fastest swimmers. Before, in between, and after each round, the 200 medley relay, 200 free, 500 free, 200 IM, and 200 free relay are also swam. Diving will also take place simultaneously with the swimming
The women's team comes into the weekend with a stellar 13-4 overall dual record, while the men are an impressive 9-3, including 4-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.
This weekend will mark one of the final tune ups prior to each team's respective conference championships. The women will compete for the Mountain West title, Feb. 19-22, while the men will look for a WAC crown, Feb. 26-29.
Saturday is also Senior Day for both programs, as the class of 2020 will be recognized for their accomplishments. For the women, that includes Jayden Glover, Kelsey Linzmeyer, Esther Min, Tatiana Oberley, Heidi Schellin, Kayla Wofford, Autumn Wolfgramm, and manager Emily Fanning. For the men, it will be Cole McAnany, Zach Nelson, Andrew Weiss, Jack Zocher, and former diver and current manager Patrick Lagator.
