
Air Force With First Win At Nevada, 68-66

RENO, NEVADA - Air Force men's basketball (3-3, 1-1 MW) defeated Nevada (6-3, 1-1 MW), 68-66, in Mountain West action Sunday afternoon at Lawlor Events Center. It was the first-ever road win at Nevada for the Falcons.
Junior guard AJ Walker scored a career-high 27 points and senior guard Chris Joyce added 18 in the winning effort.
The Falcons shot 49 percent from the field and 89 percent from the free throw line. Air Force went 16 of 18 from the line.
Air Force held Nevada to 42 percent shooting and just eight percent from three point range (2 of 24).
The Falcons trailed by as many as 10 early on falling behind 33-24 at the half.
Air Force came out determined in the second half, out-scoring Nevada 44-33. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Wolf Pack and it was the first win at Lawlor in nine tries.
Walker went 11 of 18 from the field with two three's and three free throws. The guard added three assists and three steals. Joyce was 5 of 12 from the field and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
Senior Keaton Van Soelen had a solid all-around game, with a career-high six assists to go with six points and five rebounds. Sophomore forward Nikc Jackson gritted out seven points and five rebounds, to go with career-high's of four assists and four steals.
Zane Meeks led Nevada with 18 points. Grant Sherfield added 10.
Air Force's next scheduled game is Dec. 31 at home against Utah State. Its Dec. 23 game against Utah Valley was postponed due to Covid-19 affecting the UVU program.
