The Falcons notched two decision wins on the day
FARGO, N.D. – The Air Force Academy wrestling team concluded its road dual schedule with a 31-6 setback to North Dakota State, Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16, at the Scheels Center. The Falcons picked up two bout wins, and had a couple of razor thin decision losses.
AF got its wins from 174 pound junior Cody Surratt and 184 pound sophomore Jake Thompson. For Thompson it was his team-leading seventh dual victory of the season.
The dual began at the top, as NDSU won 125 and 141 by very narrow 8-7 decisions that both came down to riding time. At 133, the Bison had a top-10 grappler get a major decision to lead 10-0 after three.
NDSU didn't relent as they won the next three, two via bonus points, to leap ahead 24-0 with four bouts remaining. AF broke the shutout at 174 as Surratt rolled to a 10-4 decision win for his first Big 12 dual victory of the season. Thompson then followed with a tight 3-2 decision win. NDSU would go on to take 197 and HWT to seal the 31-6 dual score.
