Crisostomo and Wu shot 69 in final round
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Backed by a pair of 69's by Joseph Crisostomo and Josh Wu, the Air Force golf team placed eighth at the annual Loyola Intercollegiate, Monday, Feb. 24, at the Palm Valley Golf Club, in Goodyear, Ariz.
Drake won the 19-team tournament with a 54-hole score of 849 (-15). Eastern Michigan was second (850), the host school, Loyola Maryland was third (851) and Loyola Marymount was fourth (854).
On the final day, Air Force shot a 283 (-5), the third best round of the season and the sixth best round on the final day of the tournament, to place eighth with an. 861 (-3). The 861 is the best 54-hole tournament score of the season.
Crisostomo shot 69 on each of the three days and tied for fourth among 112 players with a 207 (-9). After bogeying two of his first four holes in the final round, Crisostomo played the final 14 holes in five-under par. He eagled the par-five ninth for his second eagle of the tournament, tying as the most of any player.
Sophomore Jonathan Farmer tied for 34th overall with a 218. He shot a two-under par 70 on the final day with just one bogey and three birdies. Kyle Spencer finished the tournament at 219, which Josh Wu shot 220 and Anson Kuznik came in at 226. Wu finished strong with a 69 in the final round, his second best round of the season and best road round of the season, making four birdies on the day.
Air Force is off until the Lamkin Classic, March 9-10 in San Diego, Calif.
