The Falcons added 26 freshmen to their roster for the upcoming season.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force track and field team welcomed 26 freshmen to its roster for the upcoming season, head coach Ralph Lindeman announced today (Aug 10), as the Academy's Class of 2024 were accepted into the Cadet Wing at the conclusion of Basic Cadet Training. The 16 men and 10 women that make up the Falcons' newest class of athletes includes multiple state champions and several that were listed among the national high school leaders in their respective events.
MEN
Eli Bennett | Montgomery, Ala. | Home School | Distance – Recorded a prep-best 3200-meter time of 9:23.08 as a junior...two-time state champion in cross country...finished fourth at the TTFCA Meet of Champions.
Ryan Child | Kennewick, Wash. | Kamiakin HS | Distance – Recorded a prep-best times of 4:19.93 (1600-meter run) and 9:10.82 (3200-meter run) as a senior...finished third at the Washington High School State Cross Country Championships...spent the 2019-20 academic year at the Academy's Prep School.
John Colizzi | Richmond, Va. | Benedictine College Prep | Long Jump, Triple Jump – Recorded prep-best marks in the long jump (23'8") and triple jump (46'4½") during the 2019 season...Virginia Division I state champion in the long jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons...also earned top-four finishes in the triple jump at those meets (third indoors, fourth outdoors).
Luke Combs | Anderson, Ind. | Lapel HS | Distance – Recorded a prep-best 1600-meter time of 4:13.70 to finish third at the 2019 Indiana state championships...earned a pair of top 15 finishes at the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional (13th as a junior, 14th as a senior).
Jackson Connelly | Aurora, Colo. | Regis Jesuit HS | Sprints – Colorado 5A runner-up in the 200-meter dash...clocked a prep-best time of 21.77 in that distance...also ran a 10.86 (10.62w) for 100 meters...earned first-team all-league honors in football...led team in touchdowns on their way to an 11-1 season and an appearance at the 5A quarterfinals.
Teagun Glenn | Albuquerque, N.M. | Albuquerque Academy | Throws – Recorded a prep-best javelin distance of 197'1" to finish second at the USATF Junior Olympic Region 10 meet...runner-up in the 2019 New Mexico 4A High School Championships...also finished second in the discus throw at that meet (154'0")...placed fifth in the javelin at the 2019 Great Southwest Classic.
Braeden Holcombe | Monument, Colo. | Palmer Ridge | Combined Events – Recorded the nation's second-best high school pentathlon score (3662 points) at the Air Force High School Open...finished sixth in the decathlon (6010 points) at the 2019 USATF Junior Olympic Nationals...finished third in the long jump at the Colorado 4A state championships as a junior...posted a prep-best mark of 23'0" in that event.
Philip Hundl | El Campo, Texas | El Campo HS | Hurdles, High Jump – Ranked fifth in Texas – and 15th nationally – in the 110-meter hurdles (14.08) during the early 2020 outdoor season...finished third in that event at the Texas UIL 4A state championships as a junior...also ranked fifth among Texas high school athletes in the high jump after recording a prep-best clearance of 6'8".
Cole Lindhorst | Katy, Texas | Obra D. Tompkins HS | Distance – Won the 1600-meter run (4:07.41) at the Texas UIL 6A State Championships...also finished third in the 3200-meter run at the state meet...time in the 1600-meter run was ranked ninth nationally in 2019, while 3200-meter time was ranked 36th...won the 800-meter run against collegiate competition at the Air Force Open in 2020.
Brandon Lindner | Tracy, Calif. | Merrill West HS | Long Jump, Triple Jump – Recorded a prep-best triple jump distance of 46'9½" as a junior, which ranked as the 11th-best mark in California for the 2019 high school season...runner-up at the CIF San Joaquin Section Masters Meet...state qualifier...also recorded a long jump best of 21'8½".
Caiden Macktinger | Loomis, Calif. | Del Oro HS | Pole Vault – Recorded an indoor-best clearance of 16'4" at the 2020 UCS National Pole Vault Summit to place sixth among high school athletes at that meet...cleared 16'0" as a junior to register the sixth-best high school mark in California (16'0").
Sean Maison | Wheaton, Ill. | Wheaton Warrenville South HS | Distance – Recorded prep-best marks in the 1600-meter run (4:14.67) and 3200-meter run (9:15.07) as a senior...finished fourth in the 1600-meter run at the Illinois 3A State Championships that year...also finished in the top 10 (seventh) as a junior...spent the 2019-20 academic year at the Academy's Prep School.

Nick Scheller | Chanhassen, Minn. | Chanhassen HS | Distance – Won the Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional in 2019 – one week after finishing second at the Minnesota AA Cross Country Championships...recorded prep-best time in the 1600-meter (4:17.92) and 3200-meter (9:13.78) events as a sophomore...finished third in both events at the state meet as a junior.
Gerrit Tamminga | Meridian, Idaho | Rocky Mountain HS | Throws – Idaho 5A state champion in the discus throw as a junior...recorded a toss of 170'4" at that meet...tallied distances of over 160 feet in seven other meets as a junior...added a runner-up finish in the shot put that year, tallying a prep-best distance of 53'8½".
WOMEN
Alexxis Brown | San Diego, Calif. | Westview HS | Heptathlon – Recorded a prep-best distance of 18'8" in the long jump...finished fourth in that event at the CIF San Diego Section Finals...also recorded a distance of 104'7" in the javelin.
Rachel Cryster | Mechanicsville, Va. | Hanover HS | Distance – Finished eighth at the Virginia 4A Cross Country Championships as a junior...finished fifth at the Footlocker South Regional as a sophomore...recorded prep-best marks of 2:19.54 (800-meter run), 5:00.50 (1600-meter run) and 11:19.60 (3200-meter run).
